U2 fans will love this! It has been confirmed via a U2 video blog that their sold-out concert at the Pasadena Rose Bowl in California, this Sunday, 25th October, will be streamed free, in full and live on YouTube. It’s the first time a show of this size will be streamed live.
I hope more concerts will be streamed live on YouTube for those of us who can’t be at a concert that is performed in another country.
U2 manager Paul McGuinness said, ‘The band has wanted to do something like this for a long time. As we’re filming the LA show, it’s the perfect opportunity to extend the party beyond the stadium. Fans often travel long distances to come to see U2 – this time U2 can go to them, globally.’
YouTube will be streaming live across five continents. The show will be available in the usual YouTube way, as video-on-demand, following two full replays – after the live stream – on both U2.com and YouTube.
‘YouTube is thrilled to be able to provide our global audience with a live streaming performance from one of the world’s greatest bands,’ said Chris Maxcy, Director of YouTube Partner Development. ‘We are always looking for new ways to connect fans around the world with their favorite artists, and this is the perfect opportunity to do just that.’

Thanks for this information. It is going to be shown a little on the late side in NY, but I should be able to stay up.
Jennifer,
I am in the same boat (Central Time), but will try to watch it anyway. I have always liked U2 since their first album/CD.
Thanks Frank…can’t believe I didn’t hear about this. I guess I haven’t been paying much attention to them for a few years…I think I stopped after the whole Lemon album…it’ll be worth a watch for sure to see The Edge do some of the Achtung baby and Joshua tree stuff, especially when he dances to “New Years Day” when he’s playing the piano lol. Just hope it doesn’t crash the Youtube servers!
Alan,
I hope there are many more free live concerts to come on YouTube.
That’s a fantastic news. I have never dreamed of watching U2 live, not to mention live streaming. A milestone for the musicians. I’m glad they started it. Looking forward!

Ching,
I just hope I don’t fall asleep before it starts.
Wonderful. Looking forward to it. Can’t miss it, definitely.
For us in the USA, it will be very late to watch this concert live, but we will try!
This is awesome. Things are improving everyday!
