It has been a long time since the last release of SpamAssassin back in May of 2007. The Apache Software Foundation (ASF) has announced the availability of version 3.3.0 of the SpamAssassin spam filter.
SpamAssassin is an open source project that serves as an email filter to identify Spam. SpamAssassin uses a variety of mechanisms including header and text analysis, Bayesian filtering, DNS blocklists, and collaborative filtering databases. SpamAssassin runs on a server, and filters spam before it reaches your mailbox.
If you send an email to someone that has SpamAssassin you will receive a page to confirm your identity in order for you email to get to the recipients in-box. You only need to fill out the form once unless the recipient has denied your previous request.

THIS SOFTWARE IS FOR SERVERS ONLY AND NOT DESKTOPS.
Great news, spam assasin is a very good tool
It’s great to know this. More and more spam just coming by and smarter every single day!
Lucky I don’t have to be the one upgrading this though (I’m renting a web host for my emails :))
Michael,
My last company had SA, but moved on to Barracuda instead.
“If you send an email to someone that has SpamAssassin you will receive a page to confirm your identity in order for you email to get to the recipients in-box.” I think this is time consuming, but then again, one only need to fill it up once. And, come to think of it, it’s added security.
hmm…
spam assassin is very useful for me
but I still don’t know how to use it
thanks for the info, I’ll search on Google how to use it
