As of Thursday, April 8, Google will notify you if your site is infected. Google will send an email to the address you have associated with your account in Webmaster Tools. Google believes Malware is such an important issue for site owners that being quickly informed is beneficial to you and your website’s visitors.

In addition, Google promoted their Malware details feature out of Labs and placed it under Diagnostics. The Malware data is now updated four times faster than before, they’ve updated their algorithms for identifying injected content, and Google can now identify exploits which they were unable to catch earlier.

How to check your site for Malware;

  1. Log in to your Google Webmaster Tools account
  2. Click on the site you want to check
  3. Click on Diagnostic in the left pane
  4. Click on the Malware link

Message Center: Email forwarding

Occasionally Google may send you messages about issues we’ve found with sites in your account. These messages appear in the Message Center, and the most recent messages will appear on the Webmaster Tools home page.

You can also have your messages forwarded to any email address associated with your Google account.

To forward your messages:

  1. On the Webmaster Tools Home page, click Forward your messages.
  2. Select the email address and language you want.

Google will only display the email addresses associated with your Google Account. If the email address you want to use is not listed, you should add it to your Google Account.

To add an email address to your Google Account:

  1. Sign in to Google Accounts.
  2. Under Personal settings, in the Email addresses section, click Edit.
  3. Add your email address.

This service is fantastic, because it informs you about Malware so that you can address the issue and protect your visitors.
