Comcast’s web site was hacked by “elul21 coll1er seven“. The hacker or hackers, apparently changed the sites DNS servers at Network Solutions so that the traffic would re-direct to another page located in Germany according to Comcast.
I find this amusing as this is the largest Internet Service Provider in the United States. How can someone get into the Network Solutions administration account held by Comcast? Maybe Network Solutions has a flaw that they never knew about, or Comcast is at fault.
Comcast users were still having trouble accessing the page as of 11:30 a.m. EDT on May 29th. It could take hours for the redirected traffic to propagate through DNS servers throughout the Internet.
So far there is no indication that any of Comcast’s customer’s personal or private information has been jeopardized. But the incident serves as a reminder of how vulnerable users of Web e-mail can be.
Hello! This has nothing to do with customer accounts, it’s the fault of Network Solutions or Comcast, period!
Not feeling Comcastic? Good. Maybe Comcast will make their services more affordable before the next competitor comes to town, and that will be sooner than later.
I am glad I can provide some insight and clarity around this major issue.
Even though that i am not a fan of comcast, i won’t pop the champagne as i wouldn’t want hackers to do the same thing to me :p
I am still wondering on the hackers intention…..
It could have something do with the fact that comcast Throttles BitTorrent Traffic…
My advice is to never irritate a hacker…If you ever know one…
and another hit for media freedom
i did heard some words that the reason of the attacks was coz comcast really pissing off torrent lovers .
The internet can bring the best and worst out of people.
@Frank J: Daniel is a comment spammer. They comment on everyone’s blog with that “I read a similar article and it was completely different.” stuff.
