What’s new? Who would think that Microsoft would release a new update that is flawless and frictionless? Since the release of SP3, also known as Service Pack 3, HP computers with AMD processors are having major issues.
The root of the problem appears to be a power management driver. Microsoft says it’s working on the issue quickly. Users are experiencing endless reboots and shut downs. The sad part, your system will not even boot in safe mode. Microsoft once again releases another piece of shit!
How to fix this issue?
The HP issue can be solved by disabling the intelppm.sys driver, the second fix requires the user to plug in a USB flash drive before booting.
You would have thought that Microsoft would have woke up after the SP1 issue that also caused endless reboots. Microsoft needs to focus on their QA efforts better.
Tip:
1. Disable automatic updates, but check Microsoft’s web site for any news on critical updates.
2. Time is a smart thing. You should wait at least 30 days before applying any updates from Microsoft just in case there’s any issues. Let someone else be the guinea pig.
Again, it’s the “Early Adopter Tax” – those who just have to have the latest and greatest everything often pay the greatest price, not just in dollars, but also in hours of frustration.
liked the tip about the wait and see part .
i used to do this .. having my auto-updates all the time running and trying to catchup with the latest releases ..
these days i gave up i turned it down and i just work with what i have now
