Having multiple revenue channels can certainly help your bottom line. I am currently a publisher for both Google Adsense and Kontera. There are some differences between the two and I will provide a side by side comparison between both. Keep in mind that Google Adsense is a much larger network than Kontera and Google also provides ads from external ad networks.
Kontera and Google both provide a way for publishers to advertise as well.
The only feature I would like from Kontera is a report that shows earnings since last payment. The live reporting is not that important as it could have an impact on network performance which could also cause a web site to take longer to load a page.
Monthly payout averages (Last 3 months)
- Kontera: $155.40
- Adsense: $506.43
Google Adsense average payout per month exceeds Kontera by more than 200%. Kontera in my opinion is still a service I would recommend for publishers looking for additional revenue.
The most important thing to remember is that traffic generates revenue. You need to drive traffic to your web site in hopes that visitors will click on an ad they find interesting.
Note: Never solicit people to click on ads, this violates the terms of use for both Google Adsense and Kontera. If you are caught doing this, your account will be suspended.
Good luck!
We had problems with Kontera in the past. The problem is that Kontera JS loads slow and might annoy end-user. At the moment I see improvements in JS load speed.
Additionally, it is important to mark up your HTML properly. You do not want Kontera links close (or inside) other textual advertisements. That is why I am not a big fan of it :)
Any idea if Kontera supports SSL? I have a site entirely served over https and thus cannot use Adsense.
Robb,
I am not sure, but they do have a FAQ and I don’t remember seeing anything about SSL.
I have never heard of Kontera before , i should check them out !
Anyway Google is always WIN for big websites , but for small ones , i always use adbrite ! which is much better imo for the small sites
Lea,
It’s a good revenue channel.
I didnt try infolinks, i just signed today. Wrt to question, whether you can use adsense and infolinks or adsense and kontera, yes you can use it as google allows it.
Can I place Google ads on the same page with other ads?Share Comment Print?
You’re welcome to display Google ads on the same site or page as other third party advertisements provided that the formatting or colors of the third party ads is different enough from that of the Google ads. In other words, if you choose to place non-Google ads on the same site or page as Google ads, it should always be clear to the user that the ads are served by different advertising networks and that the non-Google ads have no association with Google. If the formats are naturally similar, we ask that you choose different color schemes for the competing ads.
Our intent with this policy is to be as fair to our advertisers as possible and to maintain the integrity of the AdWords and AdSense programs. (https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32849)
Thanks for sharing such a valuable information, as i was searching for the same that i can utilize on my new website. Now after reading your article i will surely trust google adsense for this.
Thanks for Sharing.
Quite a good post! I am hearing about Kontera for the first time. How is it? how much it pays? Anyone please tell me in details.
DJ,
Payments vary based on how many clicks on the in-test ads occur each day. On average I am receiving between $3 and $16 daily.
yes kontera is very good tool or method to earn some more money . Kontera is less popular because this dont have any parent name like adsense having big daddy GOOGLE. Everyone knows the google adsense because it is very popular.
Very informative blog post for all who dont know much more about kontera.
Kontera’s patented Story-Level Targeting delivers unmatched user-experience & results.
Still stuck on Google personally. I’m not too much of a fan of the popups that come with the Kontera links in the content.
I’ve read a lot of comparisons between Kontera and Infolinks, and most of them say Infolinks is better…
