The last Google Toolbar update also known as Pagerank was on or around December 30, 2009. I verified this from seeing some changes on my inner-pages that now have a Pagerank. Google had a Pagerank update last April 1st and I was thinking it could happen again this year. I was surfing around and it looks like some people are seeing spikes so this could be possible that there’s a Google Toolbar update underway or at least by this weekend.
If you’re anticipating an up click and it doesn’t go your way, don’t fret it. Many of us look forward to the Toolbar update while some just don’t care. If your Pagerank went south, it could be that the backlinks you had are no longer valued as high as they once were by Google.
Google is going through many changes with the new Caffeine and I am sure webmasters will see a lot of crazy things happening over the next couple of months or so. It is hard to determine when an update occurs, but according to the trend, it is usually 3 to 4 months on average.
If your traffic continues to be steady or increases than I would not get too worried if your Pagerank went down. Pagerank is still a major factor in measuring the value and quantity of links to your web site.
Prediction: Google Pagerank update will start over the weekend, but I could be far off, but I am feeling confident.
Your right, somethings probably up. PageRank updates are only very important for those of us who have new sites with a PR of 0 or 1.
David,
Your site has no rank and it’s very new, very-very new. :)
I was quite disappointed seeing no pr updates for the month of March 31-April 1, 2010 and above… google somehow stalled the updates?
Faust,
The last update was in December so this is right on par with the trend.
MY blog gets PR 2 in this update. Before this update, my blog was PR 0
Anil,
That’s a great jump and I wish you further success.
thanks, happy
I am very much anticipating for my website’s new rank aswell. Kudos to your site!
we should wait for the next 4 months to be able to judge fairly on that development
Thanks for the informations ;)
Thanks for letting me know or I might not have been looking for it. I went up from a 4 to a 5. I’m so excited. I’ve been a 4 since I first got ranked and it feels great to finally move up.
Jennifer,
You earned it as you’re one of the most active bloggers I know. Congrats!!!
I am very happy. I purchased a domain for my blog as well as domain mapping on December 20, 2010. I assumed from past experience that it would take 4 – 6 months before my new domain earned a PageRank but I was wrong. The age of the domain is 3 months 15 days and the PageRank is 5/10. YAY!
timetheif,
That’s very rare and congrats on a major accomplishment!
Last page rank update my bro’s site went down to PR 2, but it looks back up to PR 3 although it sure would have been nice to crack 4. I will have to check out some of the internal pages for any more changes. Frank – You TOTALLY called this!
Zuck,
In time it will get to a PR4. It’s not only the amount of backlinks, but the quality as well.
Very interesting stuff…I am pretty new to most of this, bust almost everything I know is from this blog. Our PR has been the same for quite some time. But we are now, more than ever, being proactive and trying not to get down on ourselves
I am not that concerned about Google page rank anymore. I tend to focus on how well my pages get ranked. One of my sites which is about 6 years old was getting 3,000 unique visitors a day. Suddenly it dropped to less than 1,000 per day and stayed at that level for nearly 18 months. This December it suddenly jumped up to its ols levels of 3,000 a day and has stayed at that level since then.
Dear Author,
I like your article.
Many thanks and best regards,
Ali Fatul
My site has a pagerank of 4 and as of now I am continually building links. I would be pretty happy if it would go up by the next update. But, I see pagerank as a bonus. What is still more important is that you are providing your readers with helpful content or information and steadily building relationship with them that would eventually make them into loyal readers or followers.
Andrew,
Content is still king, no matter what your pagerank is. If a site has a steady flow of traffic and returning visitors, than you’re doing something right.
Well said, Frank. :) Congrats to Andrew for maintaining a good progress with your blog rank. Mine still the same but I’m grateful with the result. It’s a busy year to build readership and content quality, wish everyone a great success.

Ching,
In time we all will have big smiles. The next update should be around Begging of July. You have plenty of time to build backlinks.
Hmm my 8 month old site has had a PR 4 home page since November (when it was 3 months old). Since it seems to be staying that way, I guess I’ll go focus on getting good backlinks to my individual blog posts.
Brian,
It all about the quality of sites linking to your site. You can have hundreds of PR1 links, but it will not move your rank up unless you’re not ranked or have a PR0.
I can’t confirm it, but I’ve read someone that the update started today..
Gene,
The update happened on Saturday and it has completed.
I think this update has happened, not that we follow it much these days. But some of our inner pages have received higher PR over the easter break
The update happened on Saturday and it has completed.
I don’t really place an emphasis on Google Page Rank because the only people that will really care about it are people that are looking to buy links… and because I refuse to sell links it’s sort of a pointless stat.
Chris,
Though Pagerank has some significance, dispelling it, is not what I would do. If you have links scattered all over the net, it is more likely you will get referral traffic as well. Many advertisers look at a sites PR in order to determine whether or not to advertise with that site. They also look at Alexa rank. which I totally ignore.
Yeah, my PR is down from 4 to 3 but don’t really care much (although I normally use it when I try to pitch for a private advertiser)
Michael,
You are still a great writer so don’t read too much into PR. Keep writing bro!
Thanks Frank, will do
PR-Update was great. I got up from PR1 to PR3 and Caffeine ist making me really happy. I got some great SERPs after the new system.
What’s about you?
Awesome climb! Keep up the good work!
I am pretty new to most of this, but almost everything I know is from this blog. Our PR has been the same for quite some time. But we are now, more than ever,
Thank you and hopefully with a little more time and some off page SEO efforts, you will move up.
Hi,
I have been waiting for a couple of months now to jump out of PR0, maybe next update.
