This has to be the shortest time between Google PageRank updates in a long time or at least since I can remember. The last Google PageRank update happened on July 18th to correct a bug with the update that occurred at the end of June 2011.
Google pushed the update at around 12:00 PM CDT on August 4. The update is completed. I noticed that my inner pages received some love from Google, but my main index page is still a PR 4.
It is a bit strange and out of the norm that the toolbar update was done so soon. Before the June 27th update, Google didn’t update the toolbar for over 6 months.
This could be a sign of more frequent updates in the future, but trying to get that information confirmed is like pulling teeth.
Did your site get some PageRank love?
Thanks for the update. We’ll be checking mine today right after this comment. :-)
Thanks for the update!
My homepage remained a PR 4.
However, I noticed that one of my post pages also got a PR 4. What’s interesting is that this is a very recent post that I know has close to zero external backlinks. I thought this was a mistake, but all page rank checkers display a 4 for that post.
Brian,
I was just replying to a comment about the same thing. It seems strange that inner pages relatively new are now PR4’s.
Could this be causing a Google Dance? One of my pages had excellent SERP and in the last day or so it has absolutely no SERP. Its still indexed, but no position for my keywords.
Bill,
I have seen weirdness where articles that I published within the last 8 weeks are now PR4’s. I like it, but it doesn’t seem right in such a short period of time.
Mine does have any effect its relates to iPad 2 Jailbreak
Mark,
Now all changes are going to reflect gains. At least you still have the same PR.
thanks Frank
My website is still PR3 on the main page, and also got some PR2 or 1 on other pages. But.. I have a question: we made a wordpress blog to give more informations about products and we have original content on it and tags on every post but I do not understand what should I do more to help it grow faster… there is only PR0 or 1 on it…
bijuterii,
PageRank is based on back links. These are incoming links to your website from other websites and or web pages.
I really can’t understand Google at this point. I can only continue to do what i know best – isn’t it?
One of my sites got moved up to a PR3 on the Jul 1st update and was moved back to do a PR1 a couple week later. No update this time around but it seems like Google might be changing to a more frequent schedule for PR updates.
Rob,
I stated the same thing in this blog about Google providing more frequent Toolbar updates. Lets hope so!
I saw 3 update over the past 2 months. 1st update was funny for me. One of my rejected blog got a PR1 and my main daily updated site got 0! But everything is fine now.
m still pretty much confused about google’s criteria for a pagerank.
some of my most popular blog posts are still pr1 -pr0 and some reached pr2 in no time.
I noticed a slight change on some of my domains and was quite surprised. It would be nice if Google updated PR this frequently all the time.
Thanks for the heads-up, Frank.
I’ve checked mine too, and some inner pages got ranked higher.
I think this is due to some new tweaks to Google’s algorithm, so they updated PR to reflect recent changes.
I think knowing how Google does their own assertion is the primary key towards understanding or predicting how your site or page will be ranked. At times they may decide to base on the number of links, other times they may decide to go with the quality of the back links you have to your site. If only we can be sure what exactly they use then I’m sure it could have been so easy to work your site up the ranks.
thanks for the update frank, and then where gonna wait for the next page rank update my site is still in PR 9 so it means we need to double our works.
Hazel,
I think you meant that your site is a PR3. I just checked it. Good luck!
I get reminded of this blog now and then when it shows up in my RSS feed. Please keep posting ,you never cease to amaze me!
my pages had excellent SERP and in the last day or so it has absolutely no SERP. Its still indexed, but no position for my keywords.
What is the basis for the page rank?
It ranks your page according to the quality and quantity of backlinks or incoming links to your site from other websites based on authority and relevance.
thanks very powerful info blog
