I was an Adsense publisher for almost 7 years and last month my revenue tripled with no uptick in traffic that would suggest why my revenue was up. Guess what? My account was disabled. Google advised me that my Adsense account was disabled due to invalid click activity. See the actual message below.
Account DisabledYour AdSense account for this login is currently disabled. We recommend checking your email inboxes for any messages we may have sent you regarding your account status. Sometimes our messages can be caught by email filters, so please be sure to check the Bulk/Spam folders of your email accounts as well. If your account was disabled for invalid click activity, please visit our Disabled Account FAQ for more information.
Google doesn’t provide details or specifics on why your account was disabled. All I received was a series of automated emails explaining why they can’t tell me why my account was disabled. I decided not to sit around and wait for some support specialist to deny my reinstatement request. I moved on to another network though it will never compare to Google Adsense. That $150/mo. was nice, it paid the cable bill and other bills.
You would think Google with all its data collection would know what the real issue was that caused my revenue to go up by 300%. Could it be bots? I do not know, but I was celebrating seeing my revenue climb the way it did in July. I check my Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools everyday and I didn’t see anything that would have contributed to this performance. The only thing I could think that resulted in my account being disabled was a click bomb attack – someone maliciously “click bombed” one or all of my sites that I manage with the intent to get me banned.
Google’s Ad network will continue to lose value if they continue with their vague responses and lack of compassion for the people who have made the Google ad network what it is today. I hope I am one of the rare cases that get’s reinstated, but I am not holding my breath. If I do get reinstated what prevents this incident from happening again? I just hope that Google takes into consideration of how long I have been an active publisher in good standing.
Google Adsense has already hurt its reputation for the same reason I am writing about. I searched “Google Adsense Disabled” and couldn’t believe how many results were posted. The sad part is that most of the complaints that I read never were reinstated.
I have spoken to several people who went through the same issue and all of them said the same thing. When their earnings were much higher than average, their Adsense accounts were disabled. I guess it pays to advertise using Google Adwords because you might get free advertising.
Here’s a few suggestions for Google;
- Provide email alerts to publishers of suspicious or invalid activity.
- Provide us with details on why you’re disabling our accounts.
- Just disable the suspected web site that’s generating the invalid click activity and not the entire network.
Thanks Google for kicking me to the curb.
Google’s Response 08.07.14:
Hello,
Thank you for your appeal. We appreciate your continued interest in the AdSense program. However, after thoroughly reviewing your account and taking into consideration the information that you have provided, our specialists have confirmed that we are unable to reinstate your AdSense account.
Please note that your account will not receive further payments nor any reissue of previous payments. Your outstanding balance and Google’s share of the revenue will both be fully refunded to the affected advertisers. You are not eligible for further participation in the AdSense program due to violation of our Terms of Service, so you may not create new accounts.
We understand that you may want more information about your account activity, however, in order to protect our proprietary detection systems, we are unable to provide further details. Thank you for understanding.
My Response:
I didn’t expect reinstatement only after reading how many people failed as well. I just expected more from Google. I blogged about it and I was spot on in my article so thank you for validating what I already knew :)
If you appreciate something you stick with it. Keep the money, it was more about the relationship.
we should still be expecting more from Google…
Google AdSense do like to tip things in their favour don’t they.
The first thing I actually noticed when I got to your page was that you were using Chitika ads.
That’s really rough!
It’s truely painful. Same thing happened to me in 2012, and Google as expected didnt bother to re-instate.
You can try media.net & qadabra.
Google has not paid millions of publishers, I have proof. Google purposely sends fake traffic, fake clicks through its own clicking system. They have stopped payment of millions if not billions of dollars from its network of publishers. Google is a scam, and if there was hard evidence than why is Google so vague in their response? They have provided that same message when your account is put on hold. Please share this and save hardworking people and advertisers money. Google is it’s own worse enmey that is doing more of the click fraud to gain revenue and steal from advertisers. Google shame on you, crooks!
