It seems Gov. Blago is trying all angles to win over confidence that he didn’t try to sell his Senate seat. Rod Blagojevich is now suggesting Oprah Winfrey to fill the Senate seat. I am sure this move was intentional considering the popularity of Oprah.
I just don’t understand why Blago is on talk shows defending himself when he should be at the impeachment trial doing the same. Talk shows are not part of the voting process, or did he not know this? This really isn’t sitting well with Illinois residents as it looks like he is avoiding questioning.
Blagojevich said on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Monday that a friend of his had suggested asking Winfrey to fill Obama’s seat.
“She seemed to be someone who had helped Barack Obama in a significant way become president,” Blagojevich said. “She was obviously someone with a much broader bully pulpit than other senators.”
But he said he decided that the talk show queen, one of the richest women in America, was unlikely to accept the offer.
“She probably wouldn’t take it, and then … if you offered it to her, how would you do it in a way it didn’t look like it was some gimmick and embarrass her?”
Blagojevich is doing the interview circuit and said he will not attend Monday’s impeachment trial in the state Senate which could remove him from office.
All I can say is this is not the way to defend yourself!
Whether he did what they’ve accused him of or not, it was funny to watch him making a fool of himself at first. That lasted about a millisecond. Now it’s embarrassing. Someone recently asked me, “If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be and why” and I answered, “the Gov so I could ask him ‘WHAT THE xxx ARE YOU THINKING'” but I’ve since changed my mind. Now I just want him to shut the heck up.
He did say and do some things that were far out for anyone in that position to even consider.
