The websites tagline reads; “one goal, one dream.” The goal is to steal your money and personal identification so they can live the dream. The shopping site looks legitimate, but looks can be deceiving. I noticed a couple of things that sure look suspicious and I was 100 percent correct. The site in question is called AE-ShoppingMall dot com.
I checked the domain whois record and I was amazed at the lack of information or false information about this so-called online shopping site. You can view the whois information here. It certainly looks like the company is hiding information about who they are. I checked to see if the VeriSign seal they have was real or fake and it’s a fake seal.
How to verify the VeriSign Secured® Seal
You can help reduce fraud on the Internet by reporting misuse of a VeriSign Secured Seal including:
- A site that does not employ an appropriate VeriSign service
- Mismatched information on the seal’s verification page
- Missing information pop-up when the seal is clicked
- A modified seal
- A seal used in Phishing or illegal activities
*Includes VeriSign subsidiaries, affiliates, and resellers
The VeriSign seal on AE-ShoppingMall dot com doesn’t provide any information when you click on it. I also noticed that they have an unsecured check out process.
I hope that no one has fallen victim to this fraudulent online shopping site.

Yikes!
Frank, good catch. I don’t shop much online, and when I do it’s from major sites like Amazon.
I’ll definitely be careful with any shopping sites I’m not familiar with, and I’ll follow your instructions to make sure they’re legit.
John,
I only shop on sites I trust; Amazon, eBay, NewEgg, etc.
well done frank, i own a shopping website myself, i was shocked to learn the findings keep up the good work.
Denis,
I appreciate that!
The site really looks legit but thanks to you for discovering their true intent. This is the reason why I also only shop on sites like amazon and eBay.
Hello Frank,
I have received the license for SAS Pro.
It would definitely be a worthy addition to my defense arsenal.
Thanks a lot to you and Mike.
P.S. Sorry for being off topic.I commented here because posting was disabled on the original giveaway page.
Alex,
You are very welcome. Thank you for being part of this give away!
Scary site.
I got dinged once with a similar site, but fortunately my credit card company caught some bogus charges that appeared and took care of them (one of my few positive experiences with the CC Company!).
Like the posters above I stick mainly with the major companies such as Amazon, etc. or companies that have known bricks and mortar location (Barnes & Noble, Urban Outfitters, etc.) – I figure that they’d go after any fraudulent company that uses their name.
I have came across during the time to many fraudulent online shop and I have avoid them with the help of Google toolbar. Anyway I prefer always to choose shopping sites that accept paypal and to pay only trough paypal.
That’s one way to be safe, but choosing the most popular is also a good choice.
Wow, nice catch Frank. I will make sure I check certificates now.
Dennis,
I am glad I could share this and make others aware.
Thanks for the article , there are a lot of this kind out there , so you guys stay safe and shop only from big websites.
Hi Frank,
I can not remove this security tool from my system. I have tried everything. I can not type csconfig into my run bar but the tool will not allow me past that. I can not start in safe mode and I can not use my restore system. I don’t know what to do to get rid of this as it has taken over my computer and will nto allow me to do anything.
Please Help Russell
Amazing that fraud sites get a verisign badge!
I always check such or sites where i would like to buy something against these consumer protection sites like MyWOT or Webutation:
In this case:

Maybe these sites should also check if sites or shops have an anonymous whois entry.
Jooos,
Any site can steal an image just like this shopping site has. The seal has no validation. I am glad that you use MyWOT as I am a big fan of this website and service.
