There’s an email purporting to be from a legitimate insurance broker, claiming you can save 70% on life insurance. The link in the email goes to a malicious web site that drops a Trojan onto the computer without the users’ knowledge or consent. This type of Trojan virus can record users’ keystrokes and share that information back to the developer. The information usually consists of; web address, login and password information.

In addition to installing a Trojan onto a person’s computer, the site also collects personal information via an online form. This is a phishing scam that steals personal information to be used in other illegal online activities.
The Trojan may allow a hacker remote access to the computer. The hacker will have the ability to take over the computer and perform other illegal activities without the knowledge by the end user.
